Google has come up with an image search technology called Google image swirl, in Google Labs. Its a prototype version and there isn’t any specific deadline of its availability in default Google image search.  We have reviewed Google image swirl or I can say wonder wheel personally. You might be aware by the Visual search function introduced by Bing in mid-September, Google Swirl truly deride that!

How Google Swirl works:

When a search query is entered in search box, Google Image Swirl come up with a grid of 12 thumbnails loaded with images. This grid view is the most relevant bundle of images. When you click and any of these 12 stacks, the whole page will rearrange itself into a big circular group connected to a small circle leaving 11 thumbnails. This whole circular or spin shaped transformed view is known as ‘Swirl’

You can further explore subgroups in the cluster. It is said to be a combo of Picasa Face Recognition and Similar Images. Currently 2,00,000 queries can be recognized by Google  Swirl and they are adding more and more.
