CW’s latest show, Life Unexpected review
Ladies and Gentlemen, CW’s Life Unexpected has finally arrived and simply put, it’s a winner.
To avoid repeats, ‘Gossip Girl’ has taken a mid-season break and taken its place is ‘Life Unexpected’. The players in this new show are:
Cate Cassidy (Shiri Appleby). A popular morning show DJ of a Portland radio station. She finds it hard to trust anyone fully and is skeptical of commitments.
Ryan Thomas (Kerr Smith). Cate’s morning show DJ partner and secret fiancé in real life.
Nate “Baze” Bazile (Kristoffer Polaha). A slacker and underachiever who lives above his own bar. Baze is extremely laid-back in life.
Lux (Brittany Robertson). Blaze and Cate’s sixteen year old daughter who grew in foster care because of her heart condition that made adoption difficult. Lux is funny, sarcastic, jaded and wants to be emancipated from the foster care system.
The story is your basic boy meets girl/girl gets knocked up by boy/ baby shows up some years later to get their signatures and they all end up living happily type. Baze and Cate have a one-night-stand that resulted in Cate getting pregnant. Baze thought that Cate would “take care of it” but didn’t know she put the baby up for adoption, until sixteen year old Lux lands at his doorstep for his signature to get emancipated.
Life Unexpected has made a very promising start and is one those rare shows on TV whose all characters can be liked. The acting is good too, especially by Shiri Appleby and Brittany Robertson.
Did you guys catch the show? Let me know what do you think about Life Unexpected?
